Direct Support Professional Week

September 8, 2019 – September 14, 2019 is Direct Support Professional (DSP) Week

This is a time to recognize and celebrate the dedication, skills and compassion of people who chose to support others who have varying degrees of abilities. DSPs spend their working hours encouraging people to stand-up, literally and figuratively. They support people in finding jobs, and keeping those jobs. They stay awake at night to make sure that no one is unnecessarily uncomfortable, and to ensure a safe night’s sleep. DSPs show others that their communities are a place to feel welcomed, and how to give back to their communities through service.

DSPs are the people who care for others when families are unable to do so. These are the support professionals that become like-family, when there is no one else. They are skilled, knowledgeable and certified to ensure quality in all aspects of their work. The tireless work of DSPs results in safety, happiness, and fulfillment…the best outcomes possible.
